DIPLOMA IN PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

Introduction

This is a two-year, part-time, professional programme of instruction and training leading to the Diploma in Personnel Management. This course is meant for those whose careers are otherwise blocked for want of suitable professional qualification. Conducted at the Mumbai Campus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, by the School of Management and Labour Relations, the course will be found useful by those who seek careers at the executive and supervisory levels in the Personnel/ Administration Departments of industrial organisations.

The classes are held at the Institute’s premises at Deonar on weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., except on public holidays.

Course Outline

The total credit hours for the Diploma in Personnel Management programme is 44 as detailed below:

• 16 papers of 2 credit hours each = 32 credit hours
• Field Work (8 weeks) and 2 Field Work Assignments = 12 credit hours

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s Degree (under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education), in any discipline of a recognised University, with 45% of marks (35% for Scheduled Castes[SCs] and Scheduled Tribes [STs]) or a Post-Graduate degree (after completion of Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) in any discipline and having at least 3 years of work experience in managerial or supervisory category, preferably in personnel/administration.
• Age under 40 years. In special cases, this limit may be relaxed.

Selection Procedure

Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be called for an interview by the Selection Committee. The names of selected candidates will be notified on the Institute’s Notice Board after all the interviews are over.

Reservations

• 15% for SCs and 7.5% for STs.
• 3% of seats are reserved for the persons with disability of which 1% each is reserved for (a) Low Vision/ Blindness, (b) Hearing Impairment, and (c) Locomotor Disability/ Cerebral Palsy.
