Closure of Cohort of BIRAC’s SPARSH SIIP Programme

The Incubation Center of TISS recently concluded BIRAC’s SPARSH SIIP Programme for the Cohort joined in 2020. 63 Social Innovators across 14 SPARSH Centers (Technology Business Incubators) successfully completed their 18-months programme journey spread across six thematic areas - Mother & Child Care, Ageing & Health, Food & Nutrition, Agri-Tech, Waste to Value, Combating Environment Pollution & Control. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic, the young Technology Innovators worked relentlessly to come up with biotechnology-based solutions to solve societal problems in entrepreneurial mode.

 

Our Incubation Center is the Knowledge Partner of BIRAC for the SPARSH SIIP Programme. It trained and mentored the Social Innovators to build perspectives on society, environment & related issues, in building framework for socially relevant yet feasible technology solution and to develop market centric approach for enterprise creation.

 

The Programme culminated with Graduation Day and Investors’ Meet facilitated by BIRAC and Incubation Centre of TISS and hosted by FITT (of IIT) Delhi. The young Social Innovators got up-close with domain experts, impact investors, and the leadership of BIRAC including Dr. Alka Sharma, Managing Director of BIRAC of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India who shared their experiences which will further help the young Innovators to strengthen their approach of creating a sustainable Social Enterprise.

 

Present on the occasion were Prof. Satyajit Majumdar, Dean, School of Management and Labour Studies, Mr. Sujay Dixit, Vice President (Incubation and Excellence), Mr. Aamod Chandrate, Associated Vice President (Incubation and Excellence) and Ms. Nikita Narvekar, Manager (Incubation) of TISS, Mumbai.
