Important Notice for Applicants of LL.M in Access to Justice for Academic year 2021-22 at TISS

All the applicants seeking admission to one year LL.M course in Access to Justice at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, are hereby informed that the recent Gazette Notification, Bar Council of India Legal Education (Post-Graduate, Doctoral, Executive, Vocational, Clinical and other Continuing Education) Rules 2020 dated 04/01/2021 makes it mandatory to offer all LL.M programmes in the country as 2-year program. In this connection, we hereby inform all the applicants that TISS has written to Bar Council of India (BCI) seeking exemption in this clause for the current round of admissions for 2021, specifically requesting to allow us to continue the LLM (Access to Justice) programme of TISS in the current one year format. However a response in this regard is awaited from BCI and status will be updated on the TISS Website. The final decision regarding duration and format of the programme rests with BCI and other statutory / regulatory bodies. We ask all applicants to please check the TISS website for regular updates in this regard. Application fee will be refunded if any candidate applied for the programme decide to withdraw their application and/or a favourable response is not received from BCI before the date of TISS NET.
