Centre for Distance and Online Education(CDOE)

1.Responsibilities of CDOE

1.1 The maintenance and updation of the selected LMS to be used for all online and blended learning (technology platform).

1.2 The definition of standards of quality to be met by all online and blended learning programmes towards which the CDOE will develop and provide quality standards and best practices for resources, organisation of teaching faculty and mentors, conduct of teaching and assessment. These will be accompanied by checklists that can be used to review programmes. The following five sets of standards will be prepared.

  1. Standards for resource design
  2. Standards for curriculum and pedagogy
  3. Standards for assessment
  4. Standards for grievance redressal
  5. Standards for organisation and staffing

1.3 The review and provision of feedback to Schools and Centres on their curricular design, pedagogical arrangements, resource design.

1.4 Certification that minimum standards for resources, pedagogy and assessment have been met, prior to taking the programme to the AC, and subsequently before the programme is offered for admissions.

1.5 Faculty development to design and teach using online and blended pedagogies, and to use the platform, and to provide guidance on matters of copyrights, etc.

1.6 Ensuring that all statutory requirements of compliance and recognition by UGC are met for all DOE programmes offered by TISS. Maintain database of information required for reporting on DOE from time to time, and facilitate the process of application and recognition, and keep abreast of all new notifications and developments notified by UGC.

1.7 The CDOE will also be responsible to ensure that the activities of the CIQA are conducted and the CIQA related regulatory requirements are met.

 


2.Functioning and Reporting

2.1 The CDOE will meet once a quarter, prior to AC. The CDOE will notify all schools and centres so that they bring relevant items to the CDOE. The agenda will be shared with the Dean Academic and Director in advance.

2.2 The minutes of the CDOE will be shared with the Dean Academic and Director.

2.3 An update on the CDOE will be presented at FC meetings.

2.4 A secretariat will support the CDOE to maintain minutes, undertake activities and coordination and meeting statutory requirements.

2.5 The CDOE will prepare an annual work plan and budget and also a business plan on how it will meet its requirements.

2.6 The CDOE will recommend a component to be incorporated into fee and additional funds to be received by it towards meeting al operational costs.

2.7 The CDOE will propose agenda for inclusion in meetings of the IQAC/CIQA and will ensure minuting and updation of the same.

2.8 The CDOE will update the website at the start of each semester.
