Celebration of International Yoga Day
The 8th International Day of Yoga on the theme of “Yoga for Humanity” was celebrated at TISS across its campuses yesterday, 21 June 2022. Over 200 TISSians participated in the celebrations whichn began a week earlier with Rangoli, Poster, Jingle and Slogan competitions on the theme.
The International Yoga Day began with an online Yoga session conducted by Ms. Shmita Anand. The session began with an opening yoga prayer followed by various asanas and concluded with the national anthem.
In the afternoon, a Yoga Game Workshop was organised wherein Ms. Kavita Karade (The Yoga Institute Mumbai) was invited to take the session.The workshop was inaugurated by Col R.M. Joshi (Veteran), TISS Registrar, Prof. Shankar Das (Dean, School of Health Systems Studies), Prof. Asha Banu Soletti (Dean, Students’ Affairs) and Ms. Karade. The Workshop began with warming up and stretching exercises followed by demonstration of asanas for relieving stress, reducing pain, strengthening back and enhancing flexibility. Participants were encouraged to ask questions, which Ms. Karade clarified by giving detailed explanations.
