On December 8, 2022, the Department of School Education, Government of Telangana has entered a 3-year partnership with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) for improving the quality of education delivery, teaching practice in Government schools and teacher education of the State.
This collaboration seeks to strengthen the meaningful use of education technology, make school libraries active sites of learning; promote an inclusive culture in schools and improve the quality of in service and preservice teacher education. Expertise is being drawn from the Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE), TISS, Mumbai, and the School of Education at the TISS Hyderabad campus and from the TISS’ five-year engagement in the Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx) being implemented in 150 Telangana Government schools.
Pilot initiatives are underway to ensure that initiatives are responsive to the Telangana Context, and collaboration with the Department of School education will take initiatives to scale. Smt. Karuna Vakati, I.A.S., Secretary to Government, School Education Department, Prof. Padma Sarangapani, Chairperson, Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE), TISS, Mumbai, and faculty members from the school - Dr. Ritesh Khunyakhari and Dr. Sonia Sawhney and Mr. Karthik S lead Connected Learning Initiative-Telangana, participated in the event organized at Secretariat today for signing the Memorandum of Understanding.
