Sad demise of Padma Shri Mr. R.K. Krishna Kumar, former Chairman of the TISS Governing Board (May 2004 to October 2011)

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Padma Shri Mr. R.K. Krishna Kumar, former Chairman of the TISS Governing Board (May 2004 to October 2011) on 1 January 2023.

Mr. Krishna Kumar was an ardent champion of the Institute’s work, and he proactively facilitated grants for it. The expansion of TISS to Hyderabad and Guwahati was undertaken during his tenure as the Chairman. As trustee of the Taj Public Service Welfare Trust, set up in December 2008 in the aftermath of the Mumbai terror attacks, Mr. Krishna Kumar supported the programme that TISS conceptualised to provide psychosocial support to those affected by the attacks.

In the passing away of Mr. R.K. Krishna Kumar, TISS has lost a firm believer in its vision and mission. We pray for the departed soul and are with his family in their grief."
