TISS- L&T Skill India Initiative:A Landmark Development
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony was held today, July 25th, 2024, at L&T Landmark between the TISS School of Skill Education and the L&T Skill Trainers Academy, launched by Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
The event was graced by Prof. Shankar Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor of TISS, and Mr. Anup Sahay, Head of Corporate Strategy and Special Initiatives at L&T. They were joined by Mr. K. Ramakrishnan, Chief Executive of the L&T Skill Development Mission, Mr. Bhuvan Damahe, Head of the L&T Skill Trainers Academy, Mr. Ashok Shahane, Deputy Chief of the L&T Skill Development Mission, Mr. Ajay Bhagat, Marketing Head of the L&T Skill Trainers Academy, Prof. Madhushree Sekher, Dean of the TISS School of Skill Education, and Mr. Gaurav Shinde, Programme Head of the TISS School of Skill Education. This collaborative initiative aims to develop high-quality trainers and teaching faculty to enhance the skilling ecosystem, positioning India as the global leader in skill development.
Mr. Anup Sahay said, “This collaboration between L&T Skill Trainers Academy and Tata Institute of Social Sciences marks a landmark in improving the quality of trainers across India. Together, we are committed to shaping a brighter future for skill training in our nation.” Additionally, Mr K. Ramakrishnan said, “This collaboration is a milestone in the holistic development of skill trainers through our Training of Trainers Program. The value addition from TISS in program evaluation and curriculum enrichment will significantly enhance the impact of our initiative.”
At the event, Prof. Shankar Das reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious and much-needed campaign, “Kaushal Bharat, Kushal Bharat” (Skilled India, Successful India). He said, “TISS and L&T aim to create an empowered workforce through various schemes and training courses. Our mission is to cater to skill development in India through a result-oriented framework that aligns with industry needs and the country’s development goals”.
