Dr Gyanmudra is presently Professor & Chairperson for the School of Gender Studies in Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad Campus.
Before joining TISS, she was Professor & Head in National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad from 2002-2020. She started her career as a Scientist (Psychologist) from the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) from 1987-2002.
She has expertise in Rural Development, Gender issues and Organisational development and has handled several assignments of social and behavioural development programmes and projects. She has developed good networking with government, civil society and private sector as is evident in the professional associations and programmes conducted for them.
She has around seventy publications and research work including participation and presentation in international conferences in various countries. She had organised around 300 national & international training programmes. She is an alumnus of the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. She was part of the Human Capital Management Programme by the Asian Institute of Management, Manila, Philippines.
She is a member of the International Advisory Council of Asia-Pacific Consortium of Researchers and Educators (APCoRE) Inc. She is also a member of many national and international Organisations of repute.
She has a PhD (Psychology) from Allahabad University, India.

Projects-
•As a team leader, she has handled flagship government programs like Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY), Ministry of Rural Development, and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), Ministry of Human Resource Development as Nodal officer at NIRDPR. She coordinated a large-scale survey under Mission Antyodaya, which aims to eradicate poverty from 50,000 Gram Panchayats, under the Ministry of RD, Govt. of India.
• She has also handled projects in collaboration with UNICEF. She led the team in setting up a Communication Resource Unit (CRU) focusing on the Social and Behavioural Change Communication initiative program at NIRD&PR, Hyderabad.
In collaboration with NITI Aayog designed a program to build the capacities of PRI members in 25 aspirational districts of seven states under NITI Aayog on “engaging PRI members as community influencers to enhance participation, support, supervise the activities of POSHAN and promote the practice of nutritional behaviors (both nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive) among the households in the village”. In phase 1, a two-day ToT to 38 Master Resource Persons from SIRDs, DWCDs, SRLMs, and NGOs of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand states was organized at NIRDPR during Oct 31-01 Nov 2019 and oriented about the desired program of building the knowledge of PRI members around POSHAN Behaviors.
