Jennifer has been working in the area of school education and teacher education directly through sites of practice since early 2008.
She worked with an NGO, Muktangan Education Centre, Mumbai as a teacher and later as a teacher educator between 2009-2014. She led the language department where she designed and taught pre-service and in-service courses on English Language Teaching (ELT) and Proficiency in English.
She is a recepient of the Sir Ratan Tata Trust Short Term Fellowship Grants (2012-'13) which allowed her to work with literacy based organisations across India and compile a resource book on Story Read Alouds for the Classroom.
Jennifer was a member of the State Resource Group for English constituted under the MPSP (2011) and a member of the English Team of the National University Students Skill Development Program (2014) at TISS.
At CEIAR, she led the design and development of technology based Communicative English programs for the Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx). She is committed to bridging the gap between schools and spaces of higher education. Since June 2018 Jennifer divides her time between TISS and a Mumbai based school where she works with students and teachers.
Jennifer's main area of research is language education.
She is interested in questions of classroom talk, reading comprehension, teaching of literature and multilingual education in India.
Her work at the Connected Learning Initiative has helped her focus on aspects of Design Based Research and Materials Design.
She is also interested in program evaluation connected to literacy interventions and in-service teacher education programs.
