Dr. Pushpika Sapna Bara is currently working as an Assistant Professor at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, in the School of Public Policy and Governance. She has formally taught Public Health and Policies, as a guest faculty at Ambedkar University Delhi. She has also taught Comparative Politics and Theories in International Relations, as a guest faculty, at Aryabhatta College. She has additionally worked as Managing Editor, Editor, Policy Analyst and Researcher for various organizations/institutions.

She has worked on 'State And The Personal Rights Of Women: The Politics Of Abortion In U.S.S.R. And Russia' and 'Gender Dimensions Of Sexual And Reproductive Health Of Women In Russia And India', for her M.Phil thesis and P.hD dissertation. Her areas of interest broadly include Gender, Politics and Public Health.

She has moderated sessions on ‘Adivasi Food and Nutrition’, 2022 and ‘Language and Identity’, 2022. She also organized Gender Sensitization workshop, 2022. Apart from these she has delivered lecture on ‘Gender Dimensions of Environment’, at Ashoka University, New Delhi,2022. She has interned with National Alliance of Women and Government of India Monitor.

RESEARCH AREAS WORKED ON:

Politics and Gender: India, South East Asia, Kazakhstan, Russia, the erstwhile USSR; Human Security in International Politics (focusing on women); Women in Peace Building Processes; Soft Power Diplomacy in International Relations; Foreign Policy: India, Russia and Central Asia; Gender and SDGs; Adivasi Women and Sustainable Development; Politics of Abortion; Sexual and Reproductive Health of Women and Public Health.

AREAS OF INTEREST:

Intersection of Politics including political concepts like ‘security’, ‘personal rights’, etc., and political processes like ‘peacebuilding’; Public Health and Sustainable Development with Women.
