Sujatha Devarapalli currently teaches in Advanced Centre for Women's Studies. She has MA in History, Mphil and Ph.D from University of Hyderabad. She is specialized in Socio - Cultural and Ethnic history of the marginal communities in South India and published research papers in edited books and journals on intersectionality of Caste and Gender. Prior to TISS, she was with Anveshi, Women's Studies Researcdh Centre, Hyderabad. As a Research Fellow at Anveshi, Devarapalli has done an extensive study on the role of Dalit women in rural political structure, funded by HIVOs Netherlands. Another research study on inter and intra caste violence on Dalit women titled Dalit Women and Domestic Violence was done for Oxfam India with colloboration of Anveshi Women's Studies Research Centre. A research paper based on the study was published in Economic and Political Weekly, 2014. Popular performance and social change was another study conducted with Dr.Simon Charsley, a wellknown sociologist from University of Scotland funded by ESRC, UK, The study focussed on the shifting nature of traditional performances in Andhra Pradesh and the contemporary socio economic conditions of performers in general and women performers in particular. She worked as Asst.Professor cum Asst.Director in the Centre for Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy from 2009 to 2012,S.K University, Ananthapur,Andhra Pradesh. She also contributed to some of the translations of Dr.B.R Ambedkar”s Writings and Speeches from English to Telugu.
